I love the Mike's Hard brand. Their limeade is supremely delicious. Their cider? Not so much. Let me show you what I mean:
First Sip: Hey, this tastes like beer.
Second Sip: I don't like beer.
Third Sip: Oh, okay, there's some apple in there.
Fourth Sip: Why do people drink beer?
Fifth Sip: You know, apple beer isn't too bad...
Bottom of Bottle: I want apple cider.
The drink isn't really bad, it just doesn't taste like apple cider. In all fairness, I've never had hard cider, but I love normal apple cider and was really hoping for an alcoholic version of the sweet, deep flavor we all associate with crisp fall days. Instead, this tastes more like apple juice in beer. My roommate loved it, though, so if you're curious, go ahead and give it a try.
Also, this is a decent middle ground for anyone else out there who doesn't like beer but wants to hang with all the beer drinkers. (Anybody else gotten the look when ordering a rum and Coke? Show of hands?)
(this picture was supposed to be horizontal--just FYI)
Has anybody else tried this Mike's Hard beverage? Can you recommend another hard cider? Let me know in the comments!
